Coconut Chutney/Thenga Chammanthi

Coconut chutney/thenga chammanthi is a perfect dish when we think of homely food.I use to have chammanthi than any other dish.And if it there is some moru.My amma is prepared on ammikkallu before the wide use of mixer,which tastes heaenly and no mixer can give you that taste.My father-in-law's favourite dish is it for lunch.




Ingredients

  • Grated Coconut  - 1cup
  • Dry red chilly -  3
  • Shallots/kunjulli - 2
  • Curry leaves -   1 spring
  • Tamarind/puli - small goodeberry size/cheriya nellikka valuppam
  • salt
 

Method


  • Grind all the ingredients together in a mixie.
  • Mix it well and make it aslike a ball.
  • Serve it  with rice,kanji,dosh or idally


Notes:


  •  If you don't have red chillies,you can use around 1 tspn chilly powder instead.
  • You can use green chillies instead of dry red chillies,which gives you a white chammanthi.
